LAMB GARDEN VOLUNTEER ROLES
Garden 'Buddy' - A volunteer role as a Garden Buddy at The Lamb Garden, to provide important one-to-one support during G4H sessions. [Monday 2-4.30pm].
Working alongside the Garden Tutor, the Garden Buddy role is one of a mentor who can offer moral support and practical guidance to our participants. We welcome volunteers who can sign up to do just one session, or who can book to do more; the role can be shared.
A social care or nursing background, mentoring or volunteer experience in a supportive environment are all valuable and relevant to this role.
Reasonable travel expenses will be covered.

'Shepherd' - A small yet important role for The Lamb Garden, which is a community garden with a public right of access at all times.
This role is suited to those who enjoy visiting the garden, but maybe are not able to commit much time to volunteering in the garden.
Small, focused tasks can be undertaken and take just a few minutes to do. So ideal for people passing through the garden on way home from work, or stopping by at lunchtime in need of a peaceful break.
Shepherds will have access to some tools and resources if necessary too.
Examples of tasks for the 'Shepherd' role:
Dead-heading spring bulbs like daffodils, or picking out a weed or two in the raised beds. Watering the seedlings growing in the greenhouse - it's only three tiers, and it can get very hot!
Using the litter picking device in the tool shed, to pick up litter.
Cleaning the brass plaques!
Training any climbers that are growing and, fast too.
Tending to the raised bed 'Herb Garden' : we have one at The Lamb and one at Leatside health centre too.

* Garden Care Volunteers:
These volunteers love gardening and like to get involved regularly too; perhaps attending on the Monday sessions and/or turning up when a spare hour [or two] is available.
Garden Care volunteers will now also have access to the tool shed, in order to be able to join at The Lamb during non-session time. So this role is suitable for part and full time residents in the local area.
Some reasonable travel expenses will be considered for volunteers in Totnes District but who do not live in Totnes.
Garden Care Volunteering is also a role for garden enthusiasts with a media or IT skill.
